Satisfied Users from Syria Notice "Subtle Difference"

Eskeif Bros. from Syria is an almost fully integrated textile company. With around 400 employees, its production focuses on ready-to-wear ladies' garments for the domestic market, neighbouring Arab countries and Turkey.

Until recently, needles from the competition were used - but ever since a comprehensive comparison test, the entire machine park has now been re-equipped with Groz-Beckert needles.

Quality for more productivity

The worldwide economic crisis still has the textile industry firmly in its grip. Tough times for textile firms make a high degree of efficiency and productivity essential. Savings have to me made - but how? Surely this would result in a collision between input and output? With pragmatism and the courage to change, new paths have opened up for Eskeif Bros. The Syrian company, headquartered near Aleppo, is now respectably equipped - with 21 large circular knitting machines, six warp-knitting machines, embroidery and printing machines.

Transparent test run

Man and machine realise a production capacity of seven tonnes a day. The focus is on the needle, which has to continue working at top quality under this pressure for months on end. A comparison test clearly demonstrated the potential of Groz-Beckert needles. The contest was between the Korean needles used up to now and needles from Groz-Beckert. The test needle types were the Groz-Beckert Wo 110.49 G 0010 for the production of Terryware. Here, two large circular knitting machines in gauge 24 (28" diameter) were set up under identical conditions. Both machines operated at a starting speed of 15 rpm.

Big differences

Company owner Alsheikh Najjar

The result, based on predefined criteria, was quite clear: with regard to needle wear, the Korean needle set revealed serious weaknesses and had to be exchanged after only five months. The Groz-Beckert needle set, in contrast, was in operation for ten months without any problems. The differences where productivity was concerned were equally clear. The Korean needles managed 40 tonnes of knitwear at a maximum speed of 15 rpm. This contrasted with an impressive Groz-Beckert result: 95 tonnes of knitwear at a machine speed that was 18 percent higher, at 18 rpm. "I was not aware that the difference in needle quality and performance could be so serious," commented company owner Mr. Gaith Eskeif after the comparison test. The company is now re-equipping its entire machine park for Groz-Beckert needles.
